You first have to clean the area, meaning nothing should be around the window; there should be no dirt or debris around at all. Wipe it down with a clean cloth and make sure there is no dust.
Then either hire someone to take out the existing window or very carefully do it yourself. Make sure that you are quite strong since the window will probably be fairly heavy, In fact you may surprized how heavy it actually is. Once the window is out, take it away so it is no longer in your way. Wipe off the surface once more making sure that there is no dust or dirt.
Then place the other window in the hole (this step is only for those who are replacing a window in the same spot, with no there cutting or shaping to do) make sure that it is in the space tightly. And that it is even and is not falling over or lopsided.
Once the window is in replace the sides of the windows, as well as the trim around the window. Caulk around the window to make sure there is no leakage and that it is in securely. You can even by a window installation kit at your local big box store.
If you are changing the size or shape of the window it is recommended that you get someone in to do the job for you a builder or a carpenter who knows how to do this, when it comes to cutting holes in your walls and repairing them it is best to have someone who knows what they are doing. This will save you a lot of headache, since you only have one wall, between you and the outdoors!
